Crime Victims Speak Out for Jeff Rosen for D.A.

Elissa

Elissa Wolf, survivor of sexual assault

From Jeff Rosen’s closing argument before the jury:

When you consider all the evidence, the only reasonable conclusion is that Defendant assaulted Elisabeth with the intent to rape her, held her against her will, indecently exposed himself, and then resisted the police when they came to arrest him for what he did to Elisabeth. On behalf of the People of the State of California, I ask you to find the Defendant guilty as charged.

Verdict:

The defendant was convicted of assault with the intent to commit rape, false imprisonment, indecent exposure and resisting arrest.  Because he had a previous conviction for sexual assault, Elisabeth’s assailant was sentenced to life in prison.

Defendant changed his mind, came back, disguised his intentions, hid his weapon, asked for Eddie, opened the screen door, flipped open his knife, ran at Eddie Reyes, and repeatedly stabbed Eddie, who looked surprised and shocked. Defendant had been thinking about killing Eddie and when Defendant got his opportunity, sadly, he succeeded. On behalf of the People of the State of California, I ask you to find him guilty of murder in the first degree.

Verdict:

The defendant was convicted of 1st Degree Murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Yvonne

Yvonne Chavez, survivor of sexual assault

From Jeff Rosen’s closing argument before the jury:

Don’t consider lesser offenses, because the defendant is guilty of the greater offenses.

When you consider all the evidence, not just a piece here or there, the only reasonable conclusion is that Defendant verbally, physically, and sexually assaulted Yvonne. On behalf of the People of the State of California, I ask you to find Defendant guilty as charged.

Verdict:

The defendant was sentenced to 27 years and 8 months in prison. He has appealed his convictions three times. Each time, Jeff Rosen has retried the defendant and re-convicted him.

The defendant, who had the motive, means and opportunity, committed 1st Degree murder when he got a knife, ran to Victor Sanchez’s house, stabbed Victor Sanchez to death, and then ran away.

The defendant is charged with First Degree Murder. The defendant committed First Degree Murder. On behalf of the People of the State of California, I ask you to convict him of First Degree Murder.

Verdict:

The defendant was convicted of 1st Degree Murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Laura

Laura Derrickson, Friend of murder victim Peter Bianco

From Jeff Rosen’s closing argument before the jury:

The Defendant burglarized Peter Bianco’s home and stole money and drugs.  When Peter Bianco came home, the Defendant shot him in the face, from point blank range, and murdered him.

The Defendant set up Rick to take the fall for the murder and then lied to Rick’s face at his preliminary hearing.  Defendant lied under oath, in a courtroom, to keep Rick in a jail cell and himself out of one.  Defendant lied to Rick’s face because he did not want to be arrested and charged with Bianco’s murder.

Two days ago, in this courtroom, Defendant lied to your face during this trial.  Defendant lied to your face because he doesn’t want to be convicted of murdering Peter Bianco.

Verdict:

The defendant was convicted of 1st Degree Murder and sentenced to life in prison.
